For my broadcast tech final I interviewed Ladue High School Student Lucia Berglund and Isabella Munnerlyn. This was a hard project for me because I struggled to get enough B-roll and underestimated how much footage I would need. I had to keep going back to upper limits in order to get the shots I needed, and by the end of it my friends were very annoyed with me for making them go back so many times. Editing was very tedious because of all the little details I had to pay attention to. I especially had a difficult time with the audio levels. During this Project I learned how to do voiceovers and sequences for B-roll! To record my voiceover I even got to go in the soundproof booth. It was hard to do the sequences for my video because I couldn't do similar shots one after another. I am very proud of the outcome of this video, I think it turned out great! Six Word StoryFor my six word story I chose to make a funny video! I thought this video idea was great because it differed from other kids who make inspirational or sad videos. I enjoy telling funny or cheesy jokes to make people laugh, so for my video I had my history teacher, Mr Hill tell a funny joke. But this joke doesn't go as he planned and no one finds it funny. Mr Hill even wishes he didn't tell it because he believes it sounded better in his head. For the first shot I chose to do a low angle wide shot to establish Mr Hill as more important than everyone because he is the main character. Then I did a birds eye view close up shot of Sandra writing about the cuban missile crisis. This helps form a connection to the fact that he is teaching a lesson. Thirdly, I had a canted shot of him getting his sunglasses from his bag, showing the audience how he got the sunglasses in his hands. For my fourth shot, I did a medium shot of Mr Hill in front of his board delivering the joke, to show the perspective of the students looking at him. Then, an over the shoulder medium shot, to show how the class is reacting to this joke from Mr Hills perspective. Finally, I ended with a close up where Mr Hill broke the fourth wall like in the office. I thought this would be a perfect and funny way to end my video. I had some challenges mentally filming the shots of Mr Hills class because I was very embarrassed to be filming them. Im very happy with the outcome of those shots though because they were the perfect finishing touches to the shots I already had. I recommend to future students not to procrastinate because It will become harder and harder to film shots you love and are proud of. Six Word Story
